Expertise: Function of plant glutaredoxins in flower development, nuclear Grx interaction with TGA transcription factors, posttranslational modifications of TGAs, connection of Grx participation in oxidative stress defense and development, comparative evolutionary Grx/TGA studies using Arabidopsis thaliana and basal land plants such as mosses.

Methodology provided: The Zachgo lab applies a broad range of molecular, cellular, morphological and biochemical techniques to study the function of flower developmental genes regulating reproductive processes. Transgenic plant generation, isolation of novel protein partners and protein/protein and protein/DNA interaction studies (Y2H, Y3H, EMSA) as well as genetic and gene expression studies (in situ, whole mount, microarrays, RNA seq.) along with protein localization and interaction studies (GFP, BiFC) are combined to understand gene and protein functions during reproductive differentiation processes
